Library Curriculum:

The primary goal of the media center is to instill a lifelong love of reading while creating a foundation of learning skills that will enable our students to become productive members of society.

The mission of the media center is to stimulate inquiry, promote the acquisition of information literacy skills, and assist students in information problem solving tasks.  The resources available in the media center are closely aligned to the curriculum needs of the school to encourage the integration of library skills in content area activities.

The goal of the East Leesville Elementary media center specialist is to:

  • Provide activities that will spark students' interest in listening to and reading literature
  • Integrate library and research skills in all curricular areas
  • Provide leadership, collaboration, and assistance to teachers and staff
  • Encourage parents to become involved in school/media center activities through monthly newsletters
  • Provide resources and materials that will accommodate a wider range of differences in teaching and learning styles
  • Stimulate inquiry, promote the aquisition of information literacy skills, and assist students in information problem solving tasks

Reading blooms in every child!

How can you help your child with reading?
  • Spend a few minutes each night reading to your child.
  • Let your child read a bedtime story to you.
  • Talk to your child about a favorite book.
  • Visit the parish library.
  • Let your child call a grandparent or relative to tell them about a book.
